Interesting idea, I'd have to think about how to implement it. Mostly though, when you flap your wings you move upward, so you're gonna hit the ball anyway. Using circles for collision will also make some other features I'm planning (grabbing the ball/throwing the ball) a bit easier to approach.

The cut up collision box also seems like it would be an opportunity, like the ability to whack the ball with your flapping wings.

Those are the duck's Collision Object, the ball also has a collision object (a circle). The FlatRedBall engine compares the position of both these objects to see if they are touching, and if they are, the ball's trajectory is adjusted using the FlatRedBall's built-in function for "Bouncing". Tools like these are the main reason I went shopping for an engine, I don't know a helluva lot about programming yet.

The reason they have a cut-out look to them is because the textures (the actual images of the Ducks) don't fit neatly into a rectangle or a circle for collision calculations. Using that cut-up collision-polygon introduces some unique problems of its own though, so I have already re-drawn the duck sprites so that they fit better into a circle. Hopefully the next gameplay video will feature my new, fatter duck sprites.

What do all of the little boxes around the ducks signify? Are they chopped up into little pieces for animation's sake?
